Dave Crinson, Captain for 2017/2018 at Caldy Golf Club, brought his charity fund raising for his year in office to a close with a charity race night on St Patrick’s Day, supported by a few Leprechauns on the reception desk, members and key staff helpers on the night Paul Cuthbertson, Teresa, Pam, Carole and Barb from Wirral Hospice St John’s based in Bebington on the Wirral.
Dave began his year in March 2017 with a “weigh in” at 14 stone exactly and requested that members guess his final weight on the “weigh out” in March 2018, this was done by asking for a small donation with their estimated weight gain/loss!
Wirral Hospice St John’s, is a Hospice for adults that provides free care and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses including cancer, heart, liver and kidney disease, respiratory and neurological conditions, and also provide care and support for carers and loved ones: families are at the heart of everything that is done at Wirral Hospice St John’s.
It costs in the region of £3.6million a year to run the Hospice, some of which is funded by NHS grants but the majority is donated by individuals, community groups, local companies and charitable trusts.
Every penny counts and WHSJ can only continue to provide their specialist palliative care and support with outside help which is why Past Captain Crinson’s selection of the charity was so important.
“What a finish to my year as Captain only 13lbs gained in 12 months, well done to Past Captain Ray Simm for guessing my exact weight, enjoy your bottle of champagne”.
“The final charity event of my year was the race night in the club house, a very successful and enjoyable evening supported by over 100 members. A tremendous amount of money was raised on the night adding to the already substantial amount raised through out the year culminating in a cheque being presented to Wirral Hospice St Johns for £6,500. Thanks to all for your support throughout my year”
