Believe or not we have come to the end of the season for the Wednesday Competition. Over 6o members gathered in the clubhouse to enjoy a hotpot supper, which is a long standing tradition to celebrate the ending of the season. Following an excellent meal the Club Captain John Crosby was invited to take the floor to carry out the presentations.
This year’s winner of the Wednesday Stableford Accumulator (best average score for 8 qualifying rounds) was Alan Parsonage with a total of 294 points (average 36.75 points) closely followed by Sam Johnston, a rapidly improving junior, with 291 points (average 36.38 points), unfortunately neither Alan or Sam were unable to attend the presentations .
The highlight of the evening was the inaugural presentation of the Peter Crutchley Bowl, the winner is the player with the season’s best overall eclectic stableford score and this year’s winner with a magnificent score of 60 points was John Brimelow. John has been absent from golf for some time due to illness so being victorious in his first season back is a tremendous achievement.
Many thanks to the Handicap committee under the Chairmanship of Paul Mickle, but in particular Chris Litherland, John Stewart and Chris Carroll for looking after the Wednesday Competition throughout the season.
John is seen receiving the trophy from Peter Crutchley and Caldy Captain John Crosby.
