Despite the inclement weather conditions, a cohort of forty of our bravest members turned up to play in this year’s family event; the Two Generation Foursomes!
The competition was fierce, just like the wind and the intermittent rain, but the eventual outright winners were Josh and Henry Sims with a staggering 35 points! A huge congratulations to them both!
It was fantastic to witness that this competition was well attended by Caldy members from across the age groups, but it was particularly nice to see so many of our Juniors playing with their family members. With that in mind, “extra” prizes were awarded to the top three finishing Juniors, which in order of merit were Adam Durband (32), Sam Lea (31) and George Rowan (30).
The prize giving also provided the opportunity to congratulate our very own Sam Johnston, who got a hole in one at the 8th on Saturday, the 22nd of September 2018, whilst playing in the Gawith Cup.
It has to be said that the pin was in a tricky position, just beyond the near side bunkers, and that this was no mean feat!
Our reporter on the ground asked Sam if he had any words of wisdom for his fellow club members. His reply was, “Pretty simple really, you have to be in it to win it!”. In recognition of Sam’s triumph, he received a special prize at the prize ceremony for this year’s Two Generation Foursomes. Sam will also receive a separate award at the next meeting of the 200 club. From all at Caldy, well done Sam!
A special thank you to our ex-Captain, David Crinson who very kindly agreed to oversee the prize giving ceremony.
Also, a big thank you to Mark and his team from Pickled Walnut for the food which was very welcome after being exposed to the elements!
We hope to see you all back again next year!
